One conversation with ChatGPT completely changed the direction of my business.

I’ve been using ChatGPT for almost 3 years to help me with just about everything in my business — from writing content, planning launches, organizing ideas, streamlining workflows.

But about six months ago, I tried something completely different.

I asked ChatGPT to be my personal business coach.

I didn’t give it a list of specific questions to ask.

Instead I told it to act as an experienced mentor who understands both business strategy and psychology and to help me identify blind spots between my values and what I was actually doing in my business.

Then I asked it to guide me through a discovery process by asking one question at a time.

That way, it could use my answers to shape the next question — making the conversation personal and specific to my situation.

Each question it asked made me slow down and really think.

I started to realize that I was spending time on things that looked productive but weren’t actually moving my business forward.

That the business I was building wasn’t really aligned with the kind of life I actually wanted.

The great thing about AI is that it can see patterns and connections we often miss.

It doesn’t bring its own bias or emotional baggage to the conversation.

It simply listens, analyzes what you’ve said so far, and asks the next most logical question.

That’s why the conversation felt so real.

It wasn’t guessing — it was building a picture of my business with every answer I gave it.

And because of that, it could see where my choices didn’t line up with my values or where I was overcomplicating things that didn’t need to be.

What’s really exciting is that I was able to uncover what truly energizes me versus what drains me — and this gave me clarity on where I should focus my time and energy.

Try it for yourself

If you want to try this yourself, open ChatGPT (or Claude) and ask it to act as a business mentor — one that understands strategy and human behavior. Then tell it to guide you through a discovery process by asking one question at a time.

You can keep it super simple and ask:

💬 Please act as my business mentor. Help me explore my goals, my values, and what kind of business I actually want to build. Ask me one question at a time based on my answers.

If you want to go deeper, include more context about what kind of support you want — clarity, strategy, direction, or balance.
